Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak approved 700 new dental surgeons to meet the immediate dentistry and dental healthcare requirement throughout the province

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak approved 700 new dental surgeons to meet the immediate dentistry and dental healthcare requirement throughout the province and directed for raising public awareness for the proper utilization of Health Insaf Cards by poor. It should be included in the Right to Services (RTS) law. He also asked for details about different utilities of gas and power supply to be taken with concerned authorities. He was chairing 5th meeting of the stock take of health department at CM House Peshawar. Head of Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed, Secretary Health Abid Majeed, Secretary Law Muhammad Arifeen, Director General Health and other concerned authorities attended. The meeting was briefed in details about Institutional Development Progress, recruitment of health staff, promotion of staff, strengthening of health management and health services, out sourcing of health care facilities, healthcare commission, health insurance scheme, operationalization of medical equipments in districts and recommendations for strengthening of health service. The meeting focused on the rationalization of staff and was informed that 326 district specialists have been appointed and posted while 275 position had also been advertised and interviews were also started from April 25 2017.3472 Medical officers have also been recruited and posted during fiscal year 2016-17. 2188 paramedics, 2850 LHWs and 111 LHS appointed and posted. Similarly 287 CMWs had been trained and deployed under the integrated project, while training of 750 CMWs has also been started. Health Management Committees for DHQs, along with the ToRs had been approved and notified. The committees were Operational in Mardan and Peshawar while operationalization process in other districts was in progress that would be completed by May 30, 2017. Restructuring of health department has been done. The meeting was told that the draft bill for outsourcing of healthcare facilities in BHUs/RHCs was under preparation that would also be finalized before June 30, 2017. Draft bill of healthcare commission has been submitted to law department. Key provincial staff positions for commission have already been filled while district and divisional staff was being hired. The meeting was further informed that Sehat Insaf Cards were being operationlized in all 24 districts of the province. 1228217 cards out of total target of 1791660 cards have been distributed. It was told that political and administrative extension of health cards to all civil servants was in pipeline. Policy paper/Summary submitted to finance department and implementation modalities were being developed that would be completed by 30th May 2017. 21380 cards out of already distributed 1228217 have also been utilized. Regarding operationalization of medical equipments in districts, the meeting was informed that 95% of non operational equipments have been installed. New procurement of 36 types of 491 equipments costing Rs.850 million was in progress while repairing of 20 types of 134 equipments was also in process that would also be completed by June 30th 2017. Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the program so far made by the health department for providing best Medicare facilities to the masses. He directed to ensure the smooth public service delivery without any hurdles. He regretted that the vital sector of health was ignored in the past saying that it was sheer cruelty and injustice with the poor masses. “If the past rulers had given proper attention to health institutions and the health conditions of the people might be quite different”, he added and lamented that nobody in the past realized his responsibilities that was the main reason for the present pathetic condition health sector.
