Mr. Pervez Khattak was sworn in as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan after general elections held in 2013. He heads the coalition government with Pakistan Tehreek  e Insaf as the leading political party while Jamat Islami , Awami Jamhoori Itehad and Qaumi Watan Party are its coalition partners. 
Hailing from the famous Khattak tribe of district Nowshera, Mr. Pervez Khattak was born in 1950. He got his early education from the historic Aitcheson College Lahore. After doing his senior Cambridge and intermediate from there, he did his graduation from Gordon College, Rawalpindi. 
Mr. Khattak started his political career in early 80s. He has served as provincial minister thrice holding the portfolios of Industries, Labour and Irrigation in 1988, 1993 and 2010 respectively. From 2001 to 2005 he has also served as District Nazim in Nowshera District.
Mr. Pervez Khattak stands committed towards weeding out scourge of terrorism, extremism,poverty, illiteracy, health problems, and corruption. The Chief Minister envisions to set the province on the path to enlightenment, research and economic growth through investment in the human and natural resources of the province.
Having come to power in a challenging time that is marked by serious issues like terrorism, extremism, economic downfall, social upheaval, and so on so forth, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government under the leadership of Mr. Khattak embarked upon many ambitious plans that include institutional development, elimination of corruption, energy production, reforming all sectors of the Government with special focus on Health, Education, Local Government and Law & Order. A number of reforms have been introduced in Police, Education, Health, Local Government and Civil Works departments. Promotion of Tourism and development of modern Transportation network in the province also figure among top priorities of the KP Government. Necessary legislation in this respect has been done by the provincial assembly.
The government is striving hard to stimulate economic development and attract a large number of investments through provision of investor friendly environment in the province. In this respect a good number of initiatives have been taken by the KP Government which include enactment of Public Private Partnership Law, establishment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade, Establishment of Economic Zone Development and Management Company as well as establishment of Oil and Gas Company. 
The provincial government is committed to establish good governance in the province through promotion of transparency, accountability, devolution of power, improving service delivery, entrenching rule of law, empowering citizens with special focus on women empowerment, strengthening of institutions etc. The enactment of laws on Right to Information, Right to Public Services, Local Government Act, Ehtisaab (Accountability) Commission, Conflict of Interests laws etc. are some of the steps in this direction.
