Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak disagreed with the division of municipal solid waste management and disposal and cleanliness in Peshawar through different zones.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak disagreed with the division of municipal solid waste management and disposal and cleanliness in Peshawar through different zones. He directed to outsource the solid waste management, disposal and cleanliness of the whole of Peshawar through a private company. This should be undertaken on priority lines and let the private company for the recycling of solid waste for the purpose of energy and urea etc, he added. He also directed for continuous efforts against dengue virus and directed for proper utilization of energies and human resource.
He was addressing a high level meeting in Chief Minister House Peshawar. MPA Shaukat Yousafzai, District Nazim Arbab Asim, Secretary Local Government Syed Jamaluddin Shah, Secretary Energy Muhammad Naeem Khan, Commissioner Peshawar Fakhre Alam and others attended. The meeting focused on the cleanliness, waste management and disposal in Peshawar and made a number of decisions.
The Chief Minister directed for the waste collection and disposal in the whole of Peshawar on scientific lines and environmental friendly manner and the process should be completed within two weeks. He said that the public sector did not have the capacity to undertake the whole process of waste collection and waste management therefore the next most option was to outsource it. He approved land acquisition for proper dumping ground and tasked the Commissioner Peshawar to complete the whole process. He appreciated the plan of Commissioner Peshawar for finding a permanent solution to the sewerage, drain and the rainy water disposal under the Mufti Mehmood Flyover and approved it. He also approved similar plan for resolving the sewerage and drainage related problems in Nishtar Abad and Gul Bahar and directed to complete this project on emergency basis. The provincial government spent Rs. 8 billion on the improved sewerage and sanitation system in Peshawar and the whole project was in the completion phase, he added. The Chief Minister also directed to accelerate the pace of progress on the heritage trail costing Rs. 18 crore under which upgradation was undertaken of different roads, pavement of streets, utilities etc in order to restore the originality of old historical buildings. The government has provided human resource for the restoration of 12 parks in the old city Peshawar that included Jinnah Park, Wazir Bagh, Khushal Bagh, Asia Park and Javed Park. His government already established Alladad park in Akhunabad, Asif Baghi park in Nothia and three other new parks in Gulbahar area. The Chief Minister directed all the public sector entities to continue the process for the overall beautification of Peshawar City.
