Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has agreed to the total transformation of Information Department to become a vehicle for change. It has a dominant role for the projection of cross says and discourses of different stakeholders bringing transparency and good governance. However, he directed to switch over from one way communication to two steps and multi steps communication in order to reach large, diversified audiences and all stakeholders. These remarks he made in a presentation by the Secretary Information Qaiser Alam at Chief Minister House Peshawar. Chief Secretary Azam Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Shahzad Bangash, Secretary Finance Shakeel Qadir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shahab Ali Shah, DG Information Syed Ameer Hussain Shah and others attended. The presentation focused on the existing working of the Information Department and the proposed innovative and initiatives based functions of the department. The meeting gave a green signal to the Secretary Information for the new functions to reach large, diversified audiences and all stakeholders through effective portrayal of the pro people initiatives of the provincial government. Addressing the participants, the Chief Minister directed to form a comprehensive reform development support communication strategy for the effective portrayal of all the initiatives leading to transparent and good governance in the province. The government when came to power had to face multifaceted challenges therefore the government started installing a system of good governance in the province. The province had a system that was undeliverable but his government made it deliverable with the support of different reforms packages in all public sector institutions, he added. Pervez Khattak particularly referred to the introduction of Nazira Quran along with Translation in the schooling system and banned usury and interest based business through legislations in the province. The most important legislations are the right to information, the right to services, conflict of interest and whistle blower that totally eliminated corruption and appeared to be the launching pad for good governance in the province. He said his government intensions are noble for the total transformation of rusty system. However, there are forces of status quo that draw their strength from the old rusty system and resisting the change. He reminded that change is a permanent phenomenon. It could not be resisted and those resisting it would never succeed this is what the history of the mankind tell us. The Information Department with its new role should create awareness about the positives of the change and properly portray the reforms agenda as the prerequisite for good governance. The department should have the capacity to project the actual world reality through generating responses against the reality of the interest groups. He also directed to contribute to the encroachment drive, using its own tool and instruments highlighting the good to be brought about by the government’s initiatives. He agreed to the overall publicity plan presented by Secretary Information and appreciated it directing the quarters concerned to take it to the implementation phase. ===
