The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak has directed the Industries and Food Departments to prepare a proper case for supporting both the industrialists and the farmers so that the Government formulate a strategy for their facilitation in the larger interest of the Province. Talking to a delegation of Pakistan Sugar Mills Association led by Abbas Sarfaraz Khan and Iskander Khan Tuesday evening the Chief Minister said that the Provincial Government will continue to support investors, industrialists and small farmers within its own limitations and in accordance with the geo-socio and economic conditions of the Province irrespective of the question whether the Federal Government contribute to it or not. However, he also said that so far as the rights and interests of the people of the Province viz-a-viz the Federal Government are concerned every effort is made to ensure its protection as per the constitution. The Chief Minister also pointed out that while on the one hand his government has encouraged the existing industrialists while on the other hand new investors are facilitated that is why more and more investment has been attracted into the Province. The members of the delegation apprised the Chief Minister in detail about the production of sugar in the Province, its stock, sale, export and expected output as well as the interests of the farmers attached to it. They also apprised the Chief Minister of the possibility of export of surplus sugar produced in the Province and the competitiveness with sugar mills of Sindh and Punjab. It was agreed that efforts will be made to ensure the interests and rights of both the millers and farmers are safeguarded. =====
