Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has in principle agreed to the allotment of plots to the labourers with ownership rights in the dedicated labour colonies. He directed the workers welfare board to immediately work out a plan under the law for the allotment of plots on ownership basis to the labourers. He further directed to introduce monitoring and biometric system in the schools of the workers welfare board, arrange training for the teachers and also introduce result based promotion for the teachers. The workers welfare board should also sketch out a plan for the regularization of school teachers. He also directed for absolute transparency in the working of workers welfare board. He said corruption and irregularity are stopped and assured to hold a meeting for the resolution of problems of the labour community relating to the scholarship of their children and other issues at the proper forum and the representatives of the labour community would also represent their community in the meeting. He was talking to a 13-member delegation of United Labour Federation at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Secretary Labour, Secretary Workers Welfare Board and others attended. The President of United Labour Federation kept the Chief Minister abreast with the problems of the labourers that related to the closure of funding by the federal government for the scholarship of the children of labour community, education related and other problems of the community. On the assurance of the Chief Minister for the resolution of their problems, the leadership of the federation announced calling off their sit-in. Chief Minister held out assurance to the labour community that he would contact the federal government and the federal ministry of finance for the release of funds in order to ensure the resolution of problems of the labourers viz Jahez grant, death grant, scholarship, transport, books and uniform etc and also the labourers could get their salaries in time. Pervez Khattak agreeing to the plot allotment to the labourers with ownership rights directed the workers welfare board to work out a lawful mechanism in this regard and submit him a report within a week. He said that labour community was the mainstay of economic development. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be flooded by investors for both large and medium scale industrialization. The provincial government has already removed bottlenecks in the developmental process of the province. It gave policies for economic development and industrialization that would lead to economic stability of the province, he added. Chief Minister directed the workers welfare board to initiate steps on emergency basis for the improvement of schools run by the workers welfare board. The Board should introduce a monitoring and biometric system in its schools, arrange training for its teachers and assured the provincial education department would provide help. He also directed to introduce result based lawful promotion in the schools of the board and it should also work out a proper way out for the regularization of teachers of the board-run-schools. The board, he added, should give maximum facilities to the labourers and assured that his government would provide everything within its reach. Regarding the healthcare in the kidney hospital, the Chief Minister assured to find out a solution to the problem. The leadership of the federation thanked the Chief Minister for his keenness in the resolution of their problems and announced to call off their sit-in. ========
