Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak was highly appreciative of the performance of Excise & Taxation department and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Authority for their excellent performance in achieving its targets adding that his government kept on increasing the targets with each passing year but the department kept on achieving its targets. He approved certain incentives and agreed in principle to reward regulation 2017 that he added would further enhance the performance and capacity building of the department and KPRA. He also empowered the DG KPRA to get the technical support of the international development partners. He expressed satisfaction over the revenue generation of the authority. He expressed satisfaction over the continued up to the mark performance of the authority adding his government kept on increasing the targets to the authority and the department kept on going behind the target to achieve them. He compared the present resource generation of the authority with the past that indicated a big difference that speaks the efficient performance of the department. He was presiding over the 5th meeting of the policy Council of KPRA at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Minister Excise & Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin KakaKhel, Minister Law Imtiaz Shahid Querashi, Chief Secretary Abid Saeed, MPA Khaleeq-ur-Rehman and administrative secretaries attended. The council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and the council was briefed about the implementation process on different decisions taken in the previous meeting. The council was informed about the recruitment plan prepared in the light of previous decisions and the recruitment process has been started. The council was further informed that the draft of the KPRA act was ready which would be put to the authority for approval. It was also briefed about the new website to be ready by September 10 that will given all details of the department and authority and other details related to the revenue generation and other information needed by the general public. The Chief Minister agreed to the proposal for the telecom special audit and directed to hold a meeting with FBR in this regard. He also agreed to the fix tax mechanism in order to remove the space for tax theft given by the previous system. He agreeing to the new concept of taxation viz fix tax added that the services were normally shown below the actual and therefore the tax margin is reduced considerably. The Council also took for debate different problems including the double taxation and the Chief Minister directed the industries and excise department to give viable proposal to address to this problem once for all. Regarding the legal counseling required by the authority and different cases, the Chief Minister directed to opt for better option in consultation with the relevant department so that the revenue generation process is not hindered. The Chief Minister appreciated the authority for its good work and advised it to further improve its performance. His government would always appreciate the excellent performance. However, he asked the finance and other relevant department to give clear picture of the revenue generation in the media as presently one sided picture is portrayed and good work is spoiled. The negative portrayal is contrary to the fact. He drew a comparison for the resource generation between his government and the governments of the past adding that his government was far ahead in the resource generation as compared to other provinces as well.
