The Chief Minister KP Parvez Khattak has disclosed that his government has taken up work over 4000 mega watt of hydro power generation schemes which would soon be completed and included in the national grid. While talking to media after signing an agreement between PEDO (The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization) and a consortium of Sino-Hydro and Sapper s regarding the construction of 150 MW Sharmai hydle power in District Dir he said this was besides the production of energy from gas and solar which too is in its final stages. He said that the small hydle power stations so taken up environment friendly because they are construction on perennial water and thus no water storages are required like the dams. Thus, he said that this electricity will be many times cheaper that produced by WAPDA. Therefore, the federal government should come forward and support the initiative of KP government which has a great potential of such power generation. He appreciated the interest shown by the private sector investing in KP particularly this power generation sector and hoped that this will soon usher in an era of prosperity in the province and contribute to overcome the scarcity of electricity at the national level. PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Chief Minister KP Parvez Khattak, Minister Power and Energy Mohammad Atif and Secretary Muhammad Naeem Khan witnessed the signing ceremony while Chief Executive PEDO Akber Ayub Khan signed the agreement on behalf of the KP Government. The representatives of Syno-hydro and Sappier signed the agreement on behalf of the aforementioned consortium. ===========
