The federal and provincial governments Tuesday agreed on the draft amendment to the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act. The agreement to this effect was reached in a meeting among the Federal Minister for Water and Power Khwaja Muhammad Asif, Chief Ministers KP and Sindh Pervez Khattak and Syed Murad Ali Shah respectively. High ranking officers from both the Federal government and all Provinces also participated. The proposed amendment is aimed at improving the working of NEPRA which was established in 1997 but experience has shown that its working could be further improved with these amendments. During the recently held meeting of the Council of Common Interest, it had been decided that Ministry of Water and Power will sit with the provinces particularly KP and Sindh to finalize joint draft of the proposed amendment. The participants of the meeting held a thread bare detail discussion in a cordial atmosphere and each and every issue was resolved with consensus. <><><><><><><><><><>
