Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed for the management, security and safety of Swat Motorway including security in the proposed industrial cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed for the management, security and safety of Swat Motorway including security in the proposed industrial cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The provincial government would raise a force of 2600 personnel for the security and safety of CPEC related projects and routes. He directed to negotiate with NHA for the management and road safety mechanism for the Swat Motorway that the provincial government was constructing out of its own resources. He also okayed a special coordination unit for the CPEC that would integrate the entire CPEC related activities in the province. He was also for the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adding that extension of existing laws and system was the best solution at the moment. These remarks he made during a comprehensive meeting of the provincial Home Department that focused on the raising of a full security and safety force for comprehensive security cover to the CPEC related activities and the proposed merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the futuristic look of the province after the merger of FATA into the province. Advisor to Chief Minister on C&W Akbar Ayub, administrative secretaries of concerned departments, MD KPHA and other attended the meeting. Chief Minister directed the meeting to negotiate with the NHA for the road management, safety and security of the Swat Motorway. However, the concerned officials should go for three scenarios, the first one negotiating and hiring the services of NHA for the security, safety and road management of provincial motorway Swat, the second scenario should be raising a special force for this purpose and the third scenario should be extending the traffic policing for the Swat Motorway. However, the Chief Minister said that negotiating with the NHA was the best possible solution because of the expending network of communication following the CPEC related activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Don’t forget, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a better future as it is to become the hub of all commercial activities, integrating the whole region commercially”. Pervez Khattak agreed to establish a CPEC Coordination Unit with the proposed cost of Rs.49 million adding that the cost should be rationalized and all activities should be well netted. He also directed to prepare PC I for the unit to be reflected in the budgetary proposals of the next ADP. Chief Minister directed for a comprehensive security plan for the all CPEC and non CPEC related activities adding that we should have a widen security cover for all the foreign and domestic investors and the CPEC related activities including infrastructure development, industrialization, road and rail communication, hydel power projects and other small medium and big industrial units in the province. The provincial government raising a special force for the CPEC related activities would comprise 2600 that would cost rupees one billion. The force would be supported by additional personnel with the expansion of CPEC related activities from time to time. Chief Minister said the establishment of CPEC Coordination Unit was essential for integrating the whole activities and directed to prepare a PC I immediately that would also be included in the next budgetary provision. The unit would have all the procurement including the vehicles and force multipliers required in this regard. Pervez Khattak also directed to expedite the process of FATA reforms leading to its merger into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa adding that the existing laws and local government system should be extended to the FATA because the tribals were accustomed to the existing law. His government wanted that the tribals should be equal beneficiaries of CPEC. He also directed the local government department to work on it immediately. <><><><><>
