The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has said that youth of the province proved to be the vehicle for change adding that his government would continue providing all within its reach to facilitate the youth in all spheres of life. The youth of today is more conscious and aware and there are reasons behind their awareness adding that the ruling elite for the last 70 years kept the people hostage under a system serving and protecting the interest of elite class that created hurdles for the whole country to march ahead, he added. He lamented that the wrongs of the political elite put the public sector institutions in total disarray and in this situation Imran Khan emerged as the last hope to guide this nation to their destination. The youth pinned high hopes in the leadership of Imran Khan, he added. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of National Youth Carnival at Qayum Stadium of Peshawar Sports Complex today. Provincial Minister for Sports Mehmood Khan and others addressed the gathering. Thousands of students from 110 universities and religious seminaries throughout the country including AJK and Gilgit Baltistan participated in different sporting events. The Chief Minister distributed prizes and gave trophies to the winners of different competitions. Pervez Khattak said that the youth of today stand committed and no power on earth can deprive them of their true destination. The youth had challenged the corrupt system and they would succeed under the leadership of Imran Khan, the Chairman PTI, he added. Chief Minister said that the support of the youth to PTI was a glaring example that they are supporting the movement for a free corruption country. They are aware of their rights and when the youth reached the level of awareness then they would certainly make a difference. Pakistan was one of the fortunate countries having 60% youth of its total population. The youth helped PTI to form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his government never let its youth down adding that it was his government that introduced youth policy and made a number of steps for the education, training, sports and other programs for the youth. Pervez Khattak said his government was spending maximum on the youth and started entrepreneurship program for the youth, soft skill development program, academia industrial linkages and youth exchange program. He said his government established hundred play grounds in the province and improved Qayum sports complex Peshawar and Hayatabad Sports Complex. It has planned to bring Arbab Niaz Stadium to the international level which would be completed in the next six months, he added. He said his government constructed four international squash courts and hostels for the players. It completed Astroturf in Mardan Sports Complex and similar work in Bannu was going on. Similar, Astroturf would be laid down in Abbottabad, Swat and Kohat for the promotion of Hockey in the province, he added. Chief Minister said that a Youth Directorate and Youth Development Commission have been established enabling the youth to make their own decisions. The government has made an agreement with LUMS for the sponsoring of promising ideas of youth. The government would provide grant at district level for the purpose. He enhanced the ADP from Rs. 250 million to Rs. 500 million and also announced increasing Rs. 150 million for the business to Rs. 350 million for the youth. He also announced Rs. one billion for the youth affairs adding that his government was committed for professional and advanced training of the youth through upgraded facilities. His government established the first ever technical university in the province and started technical centres with the help of Air force. A number of universities and colleges have been established throughout the province which was required in the backdrop of CPEC adding that youth was the real asset of the country and his government would never compromise on their welfare. He appreciated the efforts for the successful conduct of National Youth Carnival and thanked the youth of other provinces, AJK and Gilgit Baltistan for participating in the Carnival. =====
