Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retd. Dost Muhammad Khan has put the health department at red alert to take drastic measures for controlling the dengue larva throughout the province.

Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retd. Dost Muhammad Khan has put the health department at red alert directing the administrative secretaries of health and local government departments to take drastic measures for controlling the dengue larva throughout the province. Caretaker Chief Minister on the reports of re-emergence of dengue larva affecting four persons in Acheni Bala at suburb of Peshawar city, directed to establish a central control room to monitor the Dengue situation and take measures to control Dengue virus; He further directed that the Local Government Department should also establish a monitoring mechanism to direct & monitor the working of District, Tehsil & Union Council level governments towards preventive & responsive measures to dengue, especially social mobilization. The Local Government Department & District Administrations concerned will focus WSSP & other sanitation organizations & apparatuses towards ensuring cleanliness, continuous water supply and not allowing stagnant water standing. Peshawar Development Authority will especially, and all others generally will take in this regard. He directed to make integrated efforts for effective control of dengue larva. The health department including MTIs should ensure isolation wards, necessary diagnostics and treatment facilities throughout KP especially in dengue prone districts, he directed. He said Information Department should ensure proper communication strategy and social mobilization of communities through print, electronic and social media to inform citizens of preventive measures repeatedly. Health Department will ensure follow up of any additional measure required well within time. IT will also remind all Departments already assigned specific tasks in dengue such as Education & Religious Affairs etc to immediately activate their response and implementation mechanisms. The caretaker Chief Minister appealed to the people to immediately report to the control room the dengue cases and presence of larva in their areas in order to ensure immediate remedial measures. The central control room should be established within 24 hours and the deployment of necessary staff, telephone, etc. He also directed the local police, Nazimeen and officers of local government to initiate steps in their respective areas and send reports to his principal secretary on daily basis.
