Make effective criteria for appointments in the boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education in the province.

The Caretaker Chief Minister Justice(R) Dost Mohammad Khan has directed Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education to make effective criteria for appointments in the boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education in the province. He said that all the officers of the BISEs should be appointed on the basis of honesty, integrity and equality linked to their academic and administrative experience. He was presiding over a meeting in Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. Minister Elementary & Secondary Education and other relevant officers also attended the meeting. The Caretaker Chief Minister issued instructions that the discretionary power of search committee should be curtailed and the said committee should be made bound to tough criteria. He further added that certain amendments should be done in the relevant law in order to bring more transparency and accountability in the recruitment process. Secretary Elementary & Secondary Education briefed the Caretaker Chief Minister on the procedure/criteria for the appointments in the BISE, role of search committee and power of Caretaker Chief Minister and Minister in the appointments of the permanent and deputation based officers of the BISEs. Justice Retd. Dost Muhammad Khan indicated that the power of Caretaker Chief Minister for appointment of Board Officers should be transferred to Governor and high caliber educationists in order to make these appointments depoliticized. He further added that it is the question of the fate of the future of our new generation hence all sort of nepotism and favoritism should be radically eliminated from examinations boards. He said that he has got number of complaints against various boards officers from students and parents. He insisted on the strengthening of public sectors institutions so that the mashroom growth of private institutions could be curtailed, he added.
