Pervez Khattak in principle agreed to the restructuring plan, creation of posts at higher level within the respective departments

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has in principle agreed to the recommendations of the restructuring committee for the engineers of all government run institutions in the province. He directed the Secretaries Finance and Establishment to bring the recommendations of the restructuring committee for formal approval of the provincial cabinet. He was presiding over a meeting on the restructuring of government department’s engineers in the province at CM House Peshawar. Secretaries Finance, Establishment, C&W, Irrigation, Local Government and other relevant officers attended. The Chief Minister was briefed about the restructuring committee’s recommendations regarding the creation of posts giving vertical mobility to the engineers within their respective departments. Pervez Khattak in principle agreed to the restructuring plan, creation of posts at higher level within the respective departments thus creating space for the promotion of the engineers. He also in principle agreed to the raise of 1.5 % formula on the initial basic pay of the engineers formally recognized by the engineering council of Pakistan adding he did not want to do any injustice to any one and therefore it was his utmost desire to give incentives to the government functionaries so that they could deliver what they are expected to deliver in the public service. Chief Minister said that the restructuring and the salary raise would be conditioned to the efficient public service and the efficiency of engineers should start become visible. The incentives and the raise in the salaries should have a cogent reason. He cannot unnecessarily overburden the financial exchequer of the province. He cannot compromise the future of the province and therefore would not make any irrational decision to sag the financial base of the province adding that the basic philosophy behind the packages given to the public servants in all public sector institutions was to discourage corruption and bring efficiency in the service delivery. Pervez Khattak in principle agreeing to the demands of the KP Engineers as recommended by the restructuring committee, directed the Secretaries Finance and Establishment to look to the legal side of the whole structure and raise of salary adding that he was happy to see a sharp decline in corruption in all public sector entities. He did not want to see any public servant indulged in corruption adding that he was not corrupt nor his ministers were and therefore would not allow anybody for corruption. Pervez Khattak also directed to prepare SOP covering all aspects including the conflict of interest for the government engineers. He said it was necessary to balance the expenditures with the earnings so that the wheel of development could continue running on fast track adding that he fought well the net hydel loyalty of the province under the AGN Qazi formula and successfully won the case for the province that would raise the transfer of resources up to Rs. 100 billion and hopefully this province would have more resources for the development. Regarding the propaganda against his government, Pervez Khattak said that the corrupt would continue to propagate against transparency, his government brought along through the best ever legislation in the province. The propaganda exposed the corruption of the past power wielders, he added.
